| San Andrés. It is the largest Prehispanic Center in El Salvador. It became a regional capital between the years 600 to 900 dC (Late Classic period). It consisted in a monumental center surrounded by a large common residential zone, like Joya de Cerén 3 miles away. It is believed that San Andrés ruled the valley of Zapotitan and other neighbor zones, like the Hammock valley where San Salvador is found these days. < Back |
