| Casa Blanca. Together with the adjacent El Trapiche area, Casa Blanca bécame the center of an important early Maya realm which arose at the end of the Late preclassic period (approx. 250 bC to 250 aC. Thanks to the investigations and conservation by an archaeological proyect from Nagoya University from Japan, now you can appreciate 6 pyramidal structures. Casa Blanca Site museum was designed by the archaeologist Shione Shibata. Its architecture is inspired by the historic “casonas” of colonial haciendas (the main houses of ranches), with long covered walkways surrounding the gardens of a central patio. Inside you can also find an indigo workshop where the tourists can learn about the process of the indigo and even try to do their own art craft. < Back |
