| Cihuatan. The old city of Cihuatán emerged after the mysterious “Mayan Collapse” to become a regional capital around the year 900 aC. This site is a truly urban settlement with a large number of houses, temples and palaces. Cihuatan had a brief existence of only some 150 years and it is strongly related with the cultures of Central Mexico. Radiocarbon dates indicates that a fire destroyed the city near the year of 1100 dC. < Back |
